Ethical Statement

The Journal of Mountain Research (JMR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in publishing. We follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers to adhere to these principles.

Authorship
  • Authors must have made significant contributions to the study and approve the final manuscript.
  • All co-authors should provide their full names, institutional emails, affiliations, countries, and ORCID for corresponding author.
  • Non-author contributions should be acknowledged appropriately.
Competing Interests
  • Authors must disclose any potential competing interests (financial, personal, intellectual, or institutional) that may affect their study.
  • Competing interests are disclosed in a note before references if the manuscript is accepted.
Funding

All funding sources, including grant numbers, must be disclosed. The role of funders in study design, data collection, analysis, or publication must be described.

Research on Live Subjects

Authors must comply with relevant ethical guidelines, such as the Declaration of Helsinki. Ethics committee approval, participant consent, and all necessary permissions must be obtained.

Confidentiality

Data, abstracts, and ideas must be kept confidential. Authors and reviewers must maintain anonymity in double-blind review.

Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

Errors discovered post-publication will be corrected via notices or, in cases of serious misconduct such as plagiarism, the article may be retracted following COPE guidelines.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Generative AI tools must be used responsibly. Authors remain accountable for all content and must acknowledge any AI use, including tool, version, and purpose. AI cannot be listed as an author.

Plagiarism and Malpractice

Plagiarism, duplicate submission, fabrication, and other unethical practices are strictly prohibited. All manuscripts undergo screening with iThenticate.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Authors: Ensure originality, follow ethical norms, disclose conflicts, obtain permissions, and acknowledge funding and non-author contributions.
  • Peer Reviewers: Conduct fair, confidential, unbiased reviews and declare any conflicts of interest.
  • Editors: Make objective decisions, manage peer review, ensure confidentiality, and address ethical misconduct.
  • Publisher: Provide resources, protect editorial independence, and support ethical publishing practices.
