Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The Journal of Mountain Research (JMR) recognizes the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI technologies while maintaining research integrity, originality, and accountability.

Use of AI Tools by Authors

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools when AI has made a significant contribution to manuscript preparation, analysis, image generation, or content development. The name of the AI tool and its purpose should be clearly mentioned in the manuscript where applicable.

AI and Authorship

Artificial Intelligence tools, including large language models (LLMs), cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires human responsibility, accountability, and intellectual contribution.

Prohibited Use of AI

Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Unpublished manuscripts, reviewer reports, or confidential information must not be uploaded to external AI platforms without appropriate authorization.

Ethical Compliance

Any misuse of AI technologies may be considered a violation of publication ethics and may result in appropriate action according to the journal’s Publishing Malpractice Policy, Correction Policy, and Retraction Policy. JMR follows internationally accepted publication ethics principles, including recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
