Expressions of Concern

The Journal of Mountain Research (JMR) may issue an Expression of Concern when credible concerns arise regarding the integrity, reliability, or ethical aspects of a published article, but the available evidence is insufficient to justify immediate correction or retraction.

Purpose of an Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern serves to alert readers about potential issues related to a published article while allowing sufficient time for a thorough investigation and appropriate editorial decision.

Reasons for Issuing an Expression of Concern

JMR may issue an Expression of Concern in cases involving:

• Suspected research misconduct or ethical violations.
• Concerns regarding data accuracy, reliability, or interpretation.
• Possible plagiarism, duplicate publication, or authorship disputes.
• Ongoing investigations by the journal, authors’ institutions, or relevant authorities.

Investigation Process

• The Editor will review the available evidence and consult relevant experts when required.
• The investigation will be conducted fairly, confidentially, and transparently.
• Appropriate actions may include correction, retraction, or removal of the Expression of Concern after resolution.

Publication of Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern will remain permanently linked to the original article until the investigation is completed and a final editorial decision is made. The notice will clearly explain the reason for concern to ensure transparency for readers.

Ethical Compliance

JMR follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling Expressions of Concern and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
